Snowball Kennel was started in 1987 by Don and Marge Rice. Don started racing Alskan Husky mixes in sprint races in 1982. After meeting Marge they switched to mid-distance racing in 1986-1987 but later went back to racing sprint in '91. Jaclyn got involved in racing as a young child, going to all the races wiht her parents, and started racing in the 1 dog (pee-wee) events in 1993. In 1997 Marge stopped racing to raise her family and further her education. In '99 the family moved to Northern New York for better snow conditions and training property. In 2003 Don stopped racing as he cut down the kennel, just allowing Jaclyn to race. Jaclyn has run junior sprint races from '93-'04, competing in 45 event with 15 first place finishes, 4 second place finishes, and 6 third place finishes,(37 top 5 finishes) throughout the USA (NY,Pa,Mi,Me,Ct,Vt,Co,Wi,&NH) as well Canada. Jaclyn had switched to 6-dog pro as she was givrn the Kennel in 2004. As for the rest of the family, her younger siblings, Sara (7 races with 2 firtst place finishes and a second place finish) and Brian, have just started racing in the junior classes, but everyone pitches in when it comes to training the dogs and racing season.
