2017 World Champions- The Pas, Manitoba.

STREEPER IS WORLD CHAMPION. -- In a largely unprecedented move, the race organizers canceled the 3rd lap of The Pas World Championships out of concern for the welfare of the dogs due to the warm weather and lack of snow. The first and only time this has happened was in 1998. There was a lot of movement in the standings today, with perennial champion Buddy Streeper moving into 1st place. Lina Streeper finished a commanding 2nd for the day, but was not able to topple Annie Malo's 2 very strong runs. Annie and her family should be quite thrilled with their race, and are the favorites to win next weekends event in Cross Lake, MB. Justin Fortier finished 4th overall, a very impressive finish for this young driver from Quebec. Bruce Magnusson represented his country well with a solid 5th place and his team looked very strong towards the end when most others were fading. Rachel Courtney won the Manitoba championship with a 6th place overall finish and had 2 relatively clean runs. Local musher Rob Turner jumped in the standings for an overall 7th place. Our hats are off to The Pas Kinsman for putting on the best event possible considering the weather.
