2019 7th Place Copper Dog 10 Dog 130 Miles

Always love this race but team was not ready imo, went into it a bit cobbled together but had fun, at least day 2 and 3:) Trail was softer and slower Friday night so the dogs wanted to settle into the Midnight Run trudging pace. Ran 9 Friday night and placed 8th. Day 2 went with all 10 and were the fourth fastest that day moving up to 7th overall. We always seem to have a better run day 2 and 3:) Day three down to 9 dogs with one getting sick roughly halfway into the run, he kept up but we went slower. I was thinking we had to have dropped in the standings but we had a good enough pace off and on to hold onto 7th place amazingly! wew! lol Unfortunately some of the dogs got really sick after the race and it went through the whole kennel in the weeks following the race. Sad to see the end of race season always but guess it was a good thing this year with the dogs not feeling well. Thank you to my dad and Julia Cross for handling for me!! They did a great job!!

This amazing dog has had quite the career starting racing as a yearling and still has what it takes at a couple months shy of 9 years old to race all three legs of Copper Dog and did awesome!!! Probably his last race but who knows? lol Finished strong in great shape, no soreness or stiffness!!! What a dog! Going to try for some more pups out of him this summer!!

Ran lead all three days with Tamar and is fantastic as always! She is one of the best leaders I have had, reliable as they come, always peppy, happy and ready to go no matter what! Just love this girl!!! Has led in more races then any other leader of mine.

Warrior ran all three days, had a great first let but seemed off on day 2, showed up with bad diarrhea that evening. Did awesome first half of day 3 even with several bouts of diarrhea then hit the brakes suddenly so I stopped the team. He vomited a big pool of brown water poor fella! Got hit pretty bad with the virus going around at the race. Gave him a few minutes to rest/clear airway then continued. He kept up but didn't pull until finish line chute. Always a hard working, high attitude guy, though sometimes on the goofy side ;) he always races every race, ran day 1 and 2 but came up slightly sore so rode in the truck for day 3 but I heard he was quite upset to be left behind:)
