2009 Wyoming Ipsssdr Team

...
4th Place finishers. What a phenomenal team this was and it was only some unfortunate circumstances that denied them a potential 2nd place finish. They had the speed and power to do it, but we made some mistakes and had some bad luck that denied them a higher placement. Maybe next year!
... Mary-2004 (F) (L)
Mother: Sue
Ran 4 of 8 stages, 3 of them in lead. She is a little dynamo and works well with Max allowing him to set the pace and she just goes.
... Pepper-2005 (M) (L)
Ran 5 of 8 stages, 4 in lead. WOWZA did this guy show up. We put alot of pressure on Pepper putting him in lead for the first time in a race and he was awesome. He led us to the 2nd place in Alpine. He is a gifted runner that sets a phenomenal pace in front.
... Mikka-2005 (F) (L)
Ran 4 stages in point. She was totally under utilized this race becuase she came in heat and we didn't want to take a chance with issues. She is a tireless hard worker and gives 100% every stage. Great point dog that helps take pressure off and stays in a lope.
... Toppi-2005 (M)
Ran 6 of 8 stages and proved that big dogs can be everyday dogs. This guy was an MVP and a total ANIMAL. Everyday he was ready to go and rocking the truck as he waited to go to the line. When he came in he was barking and lunging to be fed. It was an awesome sight to see him go to work -- he loves to race.
... Cracker-2003 (F) (L)
Ran 4 of 8 stages and led 3. She is our go to girl when you need a crack gee/haw leader. Unfortunately, she cramped up early in the race and we couldn't utilize her as much as we had wished.
... Blizzard-2003 (M) (L)
Ran 5 of 8 stages. This guy is one tough SOB. He is always ready to go and will run through muscles soreness in the worst conditions. What an awesome powerhouse of a dog.
... Quest-2003 (M) (L)
Ran 3 of 8 stages. Quest took a beating in the Kemmerer stage in the soft punchy snow and had a misstep that took him out for the remainder of the race. We were disappointed because he was an everyday point dog we were counting on.
... Sedona-2006 (F) (L)
7 of 8 stages!!! What a SUPERSTAR. We never go into this race intending to run a young dog so much, but this girl is the energizer bunny and she gave it to us every stage like it was nothing. A true testament of the Swingely bloodlines.....she is one TOUGH dog! She is tied for MVP with Toppi.
... Utah-2006 (M)
Ran 6 of 8 stages. How can you not be thrilled with a 2 year old that runs his first race of this caliber and handles more stages than the veterans. What a dog and another testament of the tough Swingley genetics. Utah is a gifted speedster that showed up everytime we needed him.
... Cheyenne-2006 (F) (L)
Ran 5 of 8 stages and never seemed phased. She is outstanding and bounces back really quick after a stage. 2 hours after a stage she was jumping up and down and acting like an idiot. We are super pleased with her performance and excited for her future.
... Billy-2003 (M) (L)
Ran 4 of 8 stages and was a huge asset in the punchy snow as he just powered through it. He would have ran more stages but stepped in a moose hole and had to sit out a few stages.
... T.J.-2003 (F) (L)
Ran 5 of 8 stages. This girl is an everyday dog that never tires and never gets sore. She is a real asset to the team and we were grateful that we could always count on her to be in the team every stage she was needed.
... Maximus-2003 (M) (L)
Led 5 of 8 stages and 3 back to back. This guy is just awesome. Always in great spirits and a relentless hard driver. Once we started racing he didn't want to go in his box. Definite superstar!
... Ivan-2004 (M) (L)
Ran 5 of 8 stages and 3 of them in point. He's not the quickest guy on the team, but he can take major pressure off the leaders and provides alot of power up the mountains. He is a tough dog.
... Zipper-2005 (F) (L)
Zipper went as our spare dog for the Wyoming team. We want to give her one more year at our distances before we put race pressure on her. One amazing thing we noticed is that she handled the altitude in training better than any dog on the truck. She has phenomenal cardio strength.
... Rocky-2006 (M) (L)
Ran 4 of 8 stages, 2 in point. This guy was full out on the tug loping like a mad fool everytime he was put in team. He was a little mopey after each stage, but the next day in team you could never tell. Proved to be very durable except his feet took a beating.
... Anker-2004 (M) (L)
Anker ran 4 stages and led 2 of them. He was in lead on our 2nd place finish in Alpine. He was always on the tug and giving it 100%.
