2009 Up 200

This was our first attempt at this distance and we were very pleased with 8th place.
... Mikka-2005 (F) (L)
What a dog! Mikka showed up as a leader and led 100 miles of this race. She was an unbelievable trooper and proved to be a tough little girl. She ran through a sore wrist and never came off that tug.
... Toppi-2005 (M)
This guy is unreal. He wasn't tired after 60 miles so they cut rest short in Wetmore. He wasn't tired in Grand Marais so we left early again. He finally decided to rest in Wetmore downbound, but by Deerton it had gotten the best of him and Bruce chose to leave him. Up until that point he was a trooper and raring to go!
... Cracker-2003 (F) (L)
Cracker took her turn at lead on this one and helped Billy get the team through the tough stuff. She was as good as new leaving the Wetmore checkpoint and had very high spirits. She was a perfect dog for this race.
... Blizzard-2003 (M) (L)
Man, this guy is tough. This is Blizzard's fortay. He was meant to do this type of racing and he was a powerhouse the entire way running through everything we threw at him. He slept, ate and drank like a champ.
... Sedona-2006 (F) (L)
My energizer bunny just kept going and going and going. She took a bad spill off an embankment later in the race and ran through some soreness. She was high spirited and ready to rock and roll coming out of every checkpoint. She ate, drank and slept like a pro.
... Utah-2006 (M)
Utah ran a great race for 120 miles but had a minor pull from a misstep and was a little too sore to risk leaving Grand Marais. He ate, drank and slept like a champ.
... Cheyenne-2006 (F) (L)
Cheyenne made her distance debut in this race and what a dog. She made it from start to finish with a very high attitude. She worked through a sore wrist and handled the checkpoint routine like a champ. She ate, slept and drank great. We are so pleased with her performance and cannot wait for next year.
... Billy-2003 (M) (L)
Billy was a trooper and strong from start to finish. He helped lead the team on the last leg and wasn't phased when the conditions got really bad. His high attitude helped keep the team in check.
... T.J.-2003 (F) (L)
TJ is an old hat at this stuff and she didn't even feel she needed to sleep until Wetmore downbown. She was there the entire way and kept us all smiling.
... Maximus-2003 (M) (L)
Max was confused by the slower pace and was constantly looking back at Bruce inquiring why he was on the pad so much. He was in great shape coming into Grand Marais, but then started vomiting and had to be dropped.
... Ivan-2004 (M) (L)
This is Ivan's calling. He was happy and perky the entire race. He led the first leg and helped take pressure off lead in point the entire way. He provided the power Bruce needed to get through the snow. This guy was a key player on the team.
... Anker-2004 (M) (L)
Anker really showed up at this race. He not only led a leg, but was there all the way to the end eager and ramming to go. He kept a high attitude, ate, drank and slept like a champ.
