Betty and her brother Kerme were purchased at the age of 7 as retired sprint dogs. Both were trained for mid and long distance. Winning leaders in the Nushagak 275 and finishers in their first 1000 mile Iditarod team in 2001 in 7th place. Pretty impressive for 2 retired sprint leaders who had never faced such a challenging year. Betty was an outstanding eater/drinker and a tireless loper. She was very tough. Kerme was a foundation male for Jaque and Magali Philip.
