Our actively retired dogs continue to help train pups, train for a few months in the fall (the younger oldies) and may participate in races under 50 miles, but have retired from heavier training and racing.

Folsom is now retired from racing, but at age 11 helps to train our upcoming generations. Folsom is one of the most amazing leaders I have worked with in all my years of growing up with dogs and seeing some of the best leaders in the sport. He simply loves to be a sled dog and he never tires of running in lead. In fact he gets wound up and jealous if he runs anywhere but lead. From a very young age he was always fully confident in single lead, which some dogs never get comfortable with. He brought our team to many victories when we got back into racing and ran in lead every time we went out training or racing for many years as our main leader. I knew he was a special dog when I went to check him out. The guy we bought him from had bought him as a 10 month old along with his brother Fisk. His wife did not like Folsom or it turns out any of the dogs. He was very nervous and scrawny. We made instant eye contact and I had feeling he was a special dog. I brought him home and it took about a year for Folsom to relax while being pet and handled. He came full circle and became the dog he was born to be. All 7 of his siblings became main leaders for various competitive kennels. This mix and the remixes have produced a high percentage of many natural born leaders. Folsom was never dropped from a race or injured. His racing career was cut short when he developed a mysterious respiratory illness in November of 2014. We spent $10,000 over two years trying to figure it out with many vets. We were told he would never run again in 2015. His insane drive has beat that prediction. Folsom's many offspring and grand-pups are spread across the state of AK, many countries in Europe, Canada, and in the lower 48. 2013

Oreo is an incredibly tough headed dog with an endless desire to run and eat. She has the perfect sled dog personality. Oreo also has a very unique personality in her funny mannerisms and ways. These traits have passed down to her puppies giving us some special dogs to work with. Oreo is one our main mother dogs. Her confident, happy, level headed, fearless, loyal, and sweet disposition comes through strong in her pups. She has made 3 litters of pups for us. Oreo was an invaluable part of our race team running in the swing and lead positions during her career. She has never been dropped from a race or injured. We sold Oreo as a yearling leader and pursued buying her back from John George in the Bethel area for 3 years! We were finally able to acquire her back in late fall of 2017. She made a nice litter of 8 pups for him with Folsom's son Kodiak and raced at the top level in western AK during her 3 years there.

Race Record

I don't have Oreo's entire race history for sprints and mid-distance racing in Western AK.

Outlaw has nonstop stamina, loves being a sled dog, has flawless movement, and he is very tough. As a yearling he became a champion a couple of times racing against some of the best teams in the sport, as did his 3 brothers. Outlaw is one of our main studs. He is a sweet natured and happy dog. Never dropped from a race or injured until his freak accident in training when a stick went through his foot causing nerve damage. He never limps but licks the area and loped more. As a very fast trotter his gait change was an indication he was off. He still trains every fall with the main team, but we don't take him over 50 miles these days as there is no need to with so many young dogs moving into the team. Ravenous eater/super coat/feet.

Pan has the longest and most successful race record, to date, in our kennel. Not having Pan on the main team will be hard to swallow. He is truly a one of kind mid-distance leader. A dream and the perfect mid-distance leader. Pan became a champion during his first racing season as a 2 year old. He developed into a strong leader as a 3 year old. Pan was born with the gift of extra speed, the intense drive of a sprint dog, and the heart of a distance dog. Pan led the team to victory many times in the 2014/2015/2016/2017/2018/2019/2020 seasons. He has finished almost every race in lead since the age of 3. Setting a record pace in at least 7 races. He has never had an injury. Pan is a lover boy with the ladies of the kennel and his people. He has high emotional intelligence and loves to connect with his people. He is very affectionate, smiles often, and is a joy to be around. His mother, Sadie, had a difficult birth and Pan was close to death as a newborn. Thankfully he pulled through and his strong spirit thrived. After he was removed from the birth canal Dr. Mark May asked, "Do you think he's going to be a rock'em, sock'em, leader?" He sure he is.

Salt-2011

Salt is a natural born leader from the strongest leader line I've worked with, the well known "F" line litter comes in a close a second. She has been an invaluable race leader, mother dog, and swing dog for us. Salt shines when the going gets tough or when pouring on the speed. She gives everything she has, every run, every race, and this trait has not bypassed her pups. In her race career Salt has given us as close to perfect race performances as we could ask for. The race where we did not expect her to really shine, the Copper Basin 300, was strangely possibly her best. It was a tough slog with a few feet of fresh snow. and it was very punchy. This was a year for small dogs to excel whereas big dogs seem to be floundering more. She made it look easy. Funny enough she was a last minute extra we had not counted as being a key dog in training due to a previous injury. She'd had 2.5 weeks basically off and knocked out 80 mile runs at half our normal speed (took ages!) like a breeze. Salt has an incredible coat, tough feet, very high emotional intelligence, connects strongly with people and has superior endurance. The majority of Salt's pups have all led as yearlings as well and are leaders in kennels across AK, Europe, and the US. Salt is an excellent mother dog and enjoys spending time with pups from the mother dogs, too.
