Highland Kennel

Highland Kennel is owned by Jeff and Sarah Conn named for the hills that surround it just west of Fairbanks as well as the northern half of Scotland where Sarah is from. We have been actively racing Alaska Huskys since 1983 and Alaska Huskys mixed with English and German shorthair pointers since 2000. We have done well in speed racing ranging from Open Class to 10-dog and 8-dog racing Jeff has won the Open Class Su Valley Championship and the Alaska Dog Mushers Association open class points championship four times. He won the ISDRA gold medal for the 10-dog class in 2007 and 2011.

At the end of 2010, we downsized the kennel and retired from racing the two big open class races. In December 2010 we pooled dogs with Amanda Byrd and Jeff ran the 10-dog races while Amanda ran the 8-dog races with the "A' team. It was a banner year for the kennel, with wins at the Raven 10-dog, Exxon 8-dog, and Montana Creek 8-dog races. Jeff won the ISDRA 10-dog gold medal and Amanda won the ISDRA 8-dog gold medal with the same dogs.

In 2011 we moved to Stage Racing and have been building a team to compete in the Pedigree Stage stop Race and completed all the stages in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2016. Jeff's best finish in the stage stop was 6th in 2016.
